Work description

To accommodate the comprehensive approach that ConHaz will employ to identify best practices and knowledge gaps within the conceptual structure illustrated in Figure B.1.1, the project is organized in the following work packages (WP).

·    WP 1:   Direct Costs & Production Processes

·    WP 2:   Indirect Costs

·    WP 3:   Intangible Effects

·    WP 4:   Mitigation & Adaptation to Natural Hazards

·    WP 5:   Costs of Droughts

·    WP 6:   Costs of Floods

·    WP 7:   Costs of Storms and induced Coastal Hazards

·    WP 8:   Costs of Alpine Hazards

·    WP 9:   Synthesis & Recommendations

·    WP 10: Project Management

The rationale for the structure of ConHaz is to comprehensively address the different climate and hydro-meteorological hazards, as well as the cross-cutting character of cost assessment aspects and methods. WPs 1-4 will provide in-depth knowledge on methodological issues to WPs 5-8, which will put these inputs into their respective hazard contexts. Work packages 5-8 will address the costs of different hazard types and organise workshops with stakeholders from academia as well as the policy making arena. Structuring the stakeholder workshops along the hazard types ensures common interests and understanding of terminology within each workshop.
