Cost Assessment of Floods Workshop

Event Flood loss assessment London Workshop - 26th November 2010 (London / Royal Society, from Nov 26, 2010 09:30 AM to Nov 26, 2010 05:00 PM)
Methods for assessing some of the losses from floods are now quite widely adopted in different countries. Those methodologies have been largely developed on the basis of conventional economic theory. What is less clear is the extent to which those methodologies meet the needs of the different stakeholders who have a concern with either deciding what to do prior to a flood, how to respond to an actual flood event, or to promote the recovery from a flood. What do the different stakeholders want to know? What do they need to know? How do they want to know it? What trade-offs do they want to make between the cost of the analysis, its reliability or precision, the data requirements and other factors? How far is there common ground between those stakeholders?
